GROUPS & ORCHESTRAS
for violin, viola, & cello

Learning an instrument is more fun with friends!

Students must be taking private lessons to be eligible for LSM group classes and orchestras.

​

For violin, viola, and cello students.

LSM GROUPS, ENSEMBLES AND ORCHESTRAS

Pre-Twinkle Group Class

(Beginner)

Pre-Twinkle Group Class teaches students the foundations of rhythm and the building blocks to mastering Twinkle and its variations.

​

Students will take turns in musical games and pieces, and will learn foundations of note-reading.

​

Students in this class are working towards playing Twinkle and its Variations in their private lessons, or other repertoire at an equivalent level.

DANFORTH Location: Tuesdays 6:15- 7:00pm (45 min)

  • 33 weekly classes/ year

  • Monthly payment plan

  • Pro-rated for late start

  • Students must also be enrolled in private lessons

Book 1 Group Class

(Suzuki Book 1)

Book 1 Group Class teaches students to play together with a steady pulse, while following the leader.  

​

Students will take turns in musical games and pieces, and will learn foundations of note-reading.

​

Students should be able to play Twinkle and its variations, and be working on repertoire in Suzuki Book 1 or an equivalent level.

Junior Orchestra

(Suzuki Book 2)

Junior Orchestra introduces students to an ensemble setting where they are assigned parts, read from music and follow a conductor or leader for expressive details such as dynamics, tempo, balance and cuing.

Students should be working on repertoire in Suzuki Book 2 or an equivalent level.

Intermediate Orchestra

(Suzuki Book 3+)

Intermediate Orchestra challenges students with music in multiple parts, allowing students to develop leadership and reading skills.

​

String players learn how to prepare repertoire at home to come to rehearsal prepared. 

​

Students should be able to play repertoire in Suzuki Book 3 or above,  or an equivalent level.

  • Students must also be enrolled in private lessons

Adult Orchestra

Why should kids have all the fun? The Adult String Ensemble is a multi-level group that gives mature students the opportunity to hone their musical skills and relive childhood dreams.

 

Participants will play in multiple parts with other musicians. Parts will be assigned based on level of proficiency. At least 1 year of private lessons required to participate. An informal audition or teacher recommendation may be required to determine level.

DANFORTH Location: Thursdays 7:45pm-8:00pm (45 min)

Music is meant to be shared.
