Sophie Reimer-Epp

Violin

Sophie Reimer-Epp is a Winnipeg-born violinist with a passion for orchestral playing, chamber music, and contemporary music. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Music with a major in Violin Performance at the University of Toronto with Dr. Timothy Ying. She has extensive orchestral and ensemble experience from her years in the Winnipeg Youth Orchestras, the University of Ottawa Orchestra, and the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, as well as the contemporary ensemble the Blank Canvas Sound Collective and numerous chamber ensembles. Sophie was honoured with the position of concertmaster and section leader in several of these ensembles. She has also had the privilege of working with a wide variety of North America and Europe's most renowned violin teachers, including Vadim Gluzman, Timothy Chooi, Cho-Liang Lin, and Olivier Charlier, which has informed her personal performance style. From a young age Sophie has had a fascination with contemporary music which has led her to great exploration of the genre in the form of workshops, summer study programs, and personal projects. Sophie is co-founder and director of the new music concert series Contemporary Music Interactive.
