Jamie Godber

Violin

Jamie Godber began her violin studies with the Oakville Suzuki Association at the age of three. She received both her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Violin Performance from the University of Toronto. While at U of T, her string quartet was awarded the Felix Galimir Award and placed first in the "Haydn Challenge". She has also performed in masterclasses for James Ehnes, Pinchas Zukerman and Jonathan Crow to name a few. Jamie has led the U of T Symphony Orchestra as concertmaster and in addition to teaching, enjoys freelancing and performing in orchestras throughout Ontario. She can also be heard in various video game soundtracks, film scores and music albums. Jamie’s love for teaching began early, working as a camp counsellor and teacher for the past decade. She is an active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and has completed Suzuki Violin Book 1 training at the Southwestern Ontario Suzuki Institute. She also holds her Grade 10 RCM in Violin Performance and is experienced in preparing students for RCM exams. When she’s not teaching or performing, Jamie can be found on the ice playing hockey, singing with her guitar, or playing with her cat Frankie.
