Carrie Wang
Violin
Celebrated for her “brilliant energy” and “sensitive musicality” on stage, violinist Carrie Wang is recognized as a compelling and versatile artist. She has enjoyed studying and performing internationally, across Canada, the United States, and Germany. Currently, she is completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance at the Glenn Gould School of Music under the mentorship of acclaimed violinist Mayumi Seiler. Carrie draws on a wide range of artistic experiences, fueling her passion to keep creativity and expression at the heart of music-making.
An avid solo, chamber, and orchestral musician, Carrie made her solo debut at age 12 with the Milwaukee Symphony Youth Orchestra. She has been a prizewinner in numerous solo competitions, including the Bolz Young Artist, Milwaukee Symphony, and Walgreens Concerto Competitions. Her collaborations with chamber ensembles have earned recognition in prestigious chamber competitions such as Fischoff and Barnett. She most enjoys performing as part of an orchestra, with renowned ensembles including the Royal Conservatory Orchestra and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, appearing in world-class venues such as Carnegie Hall (New York) and the Elbphilharmonie (Hamburg).
In addition to performing, Carrie is equally passionate about teaching. She began her own musical journey in a Suzuki violin program at age 4, which instilled in her a love for music and an intuitive musical understanding. As she grew, she also studied with distinguished pedagogues including Almita Vamos, Sang Mee Lee, and Danielle Belen. Carrie brings this rich background into her teaching, drawing much inspiration from the Suzuki method’s success in developing human ability alongside musical ability through intuitive methods like listening, imitation, singing, and image based explanations. She also incorporates the technical expertise, refined artistry, and musical enthusiasm of her other mentors. Her goal is to create not only strong musicianship but also personal growth and joy through music.
