Emanuele D'Onofrio

Emanuele D’Onofrio is an Italian composer, pianist, and musicologist currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition degree at the University of Toronto with Christos Hatzis. At the same University, he has been a Teaching Assistant in Music Theory and for the University of Toronto New Music Festival. He completed his graduate studies in Composition at the Domenico Cimarosa State Music Conservatory of Avellino, Italy, under Giacomo Vitale. Alongside music, he studied Modern Arts and Modern Philology at the Federico II University of Naples, Italy, where he also held the position of Teaching and Research Assistant in Musicology and Music History.

As a pianist, he has performed extensively both as a soloist and accompanist in public and private events (Una voce per Pithecusae Festival 2010, Piano City Napoli 2013, 2015, 2019, Napoli Cultural Classic Association, National Theatre Festival of Casamarciano, 2015, Villa di Donato, 2019) and TV shows (Italia’s got talent 2011). His music has been performed internationally by several soloists, ensembles, and orchestras (Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Massimiliano Damerini, Cimarosa Young Sinfonietta, Orchestra MIR, Fusion Film Scoring Ensemble). His academic research is focused on musical theatre, 20th-century music, and music and contemporary society.

He has also been a piano accompanist (InCanto Polyphonic Choir of Naples), choir director, organist, and music therapy technician (training at the University of Calabria under the supervision of Rolando Omar Benenzon).

As a music educator, he has been teaching piano, music theory, harmony, music history, voice, and choral music for more than a decade. His experience ranges from young individuals to adults, from classical music to pop and rock, as he believes that each student is unique and needs to express their individuality through tailored teaching plans that combine learning, engagement, responsibility, and passion for music and the arts.
