Elijah Stevens

Elijah Stevens is a 26 year old classical pianist, composer and piano instructor from the Bahamas who studied at Bethune-Cookman University and Manhattan School of Music for undergraduate and graduate studies. He specializes in the classical genre, but can teach any genre as well as as all ages and levels. He participated in the London version of the RCM exams, “Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music,” where he completed grade 7 in piano on a scale of 1-8 and grade 5 in theory before graduating high school. Currently, he is on scholarship as an artist diploma student at the Royal Conservatory of Music -Glenn Gould School, where only roughly 20 exceptionally gifted pianists are accepted to study from around the world. He is a former student of Olga Kern, Russian-born Gold medalist of the 2001 Van Cliburn piano competition. His story of overcoming great adversity in pursuit of his musical aspirations has been making national and international headlines. He was first featured on Now This News who has 14 million followers worldwide. His story was shared on AOL news, Bing News, MSN News, Yahoo TV News, NBC's First Coast News, and many more.
Most notably, Stevens was recognized by the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities as a 2017-2018 White House HBCU All-Star for his leadership, academic achievement, and civic engagement. This honor as one of the best and brightest from Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the United States allowed Stevens to travel to the White House in Washington, D. C., where he along with 61 others chosen from an application pool of close to 500 were officially inducted. Mr. Stevens is also the 2017 James A. Hefner HBCU Piano Competition 1st Place Winner and the 2013 Bahamas National 1st Place Winner of the E. Clement Bethel National Arts Festival- Piano Solo Division.
