COVID Policies 2022-2023

SAFETY PROCEDURES
All of our physical locations (2077a Danforth Avenue; 2489 Bloor Street West; 88 Laird Drive) are open for in-person lessons. We will be following safety precautions to ensure the safety of everyone in our buildings. These precautions include but are not limited to the following policies and procedures.
SCREENING TO ENTER OUR BUILDINGS
Everyone is expected to self-screen for COVID-19 prior to entering the building by asking the following questions:

Are you experiencing any of the following new or worsening symptoms:

Fever and/or chills (37.8°C/100°F or higher)
-
Cough or barking cough (croup)
-
Shortness of breath (out of breath, unable to breathe deeply)
-
Sore throat
-
Runny or stuffy/congested nose
-
Decrease or loss of taste or smell
-
Headache
-
Digestive issues (nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, etc.)
-
Muscle aches/joint pain
-
Extreme tiredness
-
-
In the last 14 days, have you travelled outside of Canada and been told to quarantine (per federal quarantine requirements?

Has a doctor, health care provider, or public health unit told you that you should currently be isolating (staying at home)?
-
In the last 10 days, have you tested positive for COVID-19?
-
Do you currently live with someone who is isolating due to COVID-19 symptoms, a positive COVID-19 test, or is waiting for COVID-19 test results?
If you answer YES to any of the above questions, please follow provincial health guidelines and do NOT attend any in-person activities at The Lane School of Music.
Anyone who attends an in-person lesson or enters our buildings while exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 will be sent home. If you have to miss a lesson due to quarantine, symptoms, or exposure, please notify your teacher directly.
SANITIZING PROCEDURES

Doorknobs, piano keys, and other surfaces will be wiped down regularly.

Hand sanitizer will be readily available.

Our ventilation system has been upgraded and filters will be changed regularly.

When possible, windows and exterior doors will be open to increase air circulation.

Air purifiers have been placed throughout the building.
IN-PERSON PROCEDURES

The use of masks or face shields in our buildings is optional for all staff, students, and family members.

Social distancing (6 feet apart) is strongly recommended.

All studios are equipped with air purifiers.
-
All studio surfaces will be sanitized between each lesson.
-
Ensemble capacities have been capped at 12 students for all classes.
WAITING AREAS

Masks are optional in all waiting area.
-
Parents of young children may accompany their child to their lesson to assist.
VACCINATION POLICY
-
All of our regular in-person teachers have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
-
Individuals attending in-person lessons are not required to be vaccinated, but all individuals who are able to get vaccinated are strongly encouraged to do so.
